About Ilanit
My Story
I’ve loved being in the kitchen for as long as I can remember. I started with cookbooks, then began creating recipes of my own. Whenever we moved, friends would ask how I made a favorite dish, so I kept recipes in my phone’s notes, ready to share.
During the pandemic, while we were living in Boston, my kids turned our family meals into a restaurant game: they ordered dishes and rated my cooking out of ten. One evening, they told me I should become a food blogger. “But I cook not by the book,” I said, and they had found my name. They opened my Instagram account and uploaded the first food photos from my phone.
What started as a way to share recipes became a collection to pass down to my children, grandchildren, and anyone who wants to cook along.
How I Cook
My kitchen draws inspiration from many places, from Middle Eastern and Italian dishes to Chinese cooking and beyond. I love discovering ingredients and techniques, making them my own, and surprising my family with something new.
I’m not a trained chef, and that’s part of what I hope to share: approachable recipes and practical tips that help you feel confident, whether you’re baking your first challah or making your crispiest schnitzel. Hearing that something worked in your kitchen is one of my favorite parts of sharing mine.
